Is people food bad for cockatiels? What can I give her for people food? Anyone got any advice?

I have a pied female cockatiel and she always begs for the food that i'm eating. I always give her the food, but I don't give her any junk food though. She is so spoiled. I'm trying to find new things for my cockatiels to eat, besides bird food.Is people food bad for cockatiels? What can I give her for people food? Anyone got any advice?
People food is okay for cockatiels, with the exception of alcohol, caffeine, tobacco avocado. Cockatiels will eat just about anything humans do. My guys love bread and pasta. Milk can be offered. Some birds don't react very well to milks, but many breeders have great success using it on their nesting birds. Personally I don't offer it. If you wish to offer it to your gal, feed her a little bit and watch for diarrhea. If she gets the runs it's best to lay off milk products.





Some birds go nuts for pizza. Mine demand a piece of apple if I'm eating some. In turn I steal their peanuts and the occasional Nutriberry **Snickers** !





There's been some argument about onions and garlic. These two veggies have been the cause of Anemia in dogs and cats. They're not sure if this is the case with birds, so some folks avoid it. Other people say its safe and their birds have been okay despite these foods in their diet. I don't offer it myself unless it's in their bird food already. Beak Appetite will include onions in some of their instant diets. My birds all seem to enjoy it and nothing bad has happened to them because of it.Is people food bad for cockatiels? What can I give her for people food? Anyone got any advice?

I'd stick to fruits and grain products! A small bite here and there shouldn't hurt her.
My Parents had a cockatiel that lived for almost 25 years! She loved people food some of her favorites was, toast, noodles, and rice. If you are truly concerned I would call a local veterinarian and ask their advice. I am sure there is allot of food they can eat that will not harm them. Good luck!

Beans are ok if they are cooked





We feed our birds junk food if they want it.


French fries,

They both love KFC Chicken


Pop Corn


Sugar Cane


Sugar Free Marsh mellows


They both LOVE LOVE LOVE, HOT Peppers


They both will get a drink from the cats milk bowl when they can.
Besides their reg. seed and snack seed sticks I feed mine lettuce and celery...
THE BEST FOOD OTHER THAN SEED IS FRUIT AND VEGES YOU CANT GO WRONG WITH THAT.
I used to breed and hand raise them for a living, you can give them crackers, potato chips (occasionally) and most any fresh fruit such as slices of apples and oranges. Other human foods can be very harmful to their delicate systems.

I give mine popcorn now and then as a treat. They go BANANAS for it !

Well first off do not give the bird meat that will cause self mutilation and feather plucking. Give fruits and veggies only not too much cause they will not eat their seed then. I think you should get advise also from your vet alot of birds have different diets . Good Luck.
