Why is it when people ask for religious advice people give smart *** answers?

No really I have seen this many many times. If the question says if you are strong in Christ, or strong in faith, why answer the question just to call God made up or imaginary? You do not have to believe but why trash someone else's beliefs? Why is it when people ask for religious advice people give smart *** answers?
Would you prefer a dumb azz answer? I assume you would not qualify as a christian since one of your words has been censored. You can not dictate who answers what question and how they answer, it's called ';free will.';Why is it when people ask for religious advice people give smart *** answers?
The whole point is that you are asking a question is an open forum - therefore you can expect opinions from anyone who cares to give one.

If you want to only have answers which conform to your preconceived ideas about belief then, frankly, you're in the wrong place.

Faith is nothing more than the willful belief in something that cannot be proved or which has evidence against it. If you ask a question about faith then you should reasonably expect someone to say that. The same applies to god (no evidence of god exists) and jesus (existence in doubt due to appearing to be an exact copy of an earlier pagan god called Mithra).

If you are a christian then shouldn't you be turning the other cheek?

In short, if you don't like the answers (or have already decided what answers you want) then don't ask the question
You're asking advice on an invisible man who lives in the clouds. How can I possibly *not* be a smartass when I answer?

If I asked your serious advice on what to feed my purple elves which live in my closet... would you give me that serious advice?
If a person is asking a serious question, it's usually obvious, and I'm happy to address it if I believe I have something useful to say. If they're asking a question that is clearly intended simply to add fuel to the fire, then they are probably going to get a smartass answer from me; what goes around comes around.
i am a old guy . dont like religious issues . religion conflict is turning back the time clock to the 12 and 13 centuries . instead of advancing . you have asked a 12 century question with a brilliant 21 century mind . the people who can answer your v=questions are middle of the fence people . the people you are questioning are the middle of no sense people . selfish , greedy , overloaded with credit card debit , plastic people . you on the other hand are able to think , indepently . choose your own question . no offence a quit rebel , who will watch get frusturated and leave . you have chosen your religious beliefs , for your own use please ignore the comments you have more class than the plastics do . there is a time when questions must go unanswered , again no offence you have answered yours by posting this question . you are well on you way . could you let me know if this made sense to you if not i will delate for you good luck yo you
religion is very different from salvation......

religion is when someone takes on a name with no change in their heart.

salvation is when someone acknowledge that they have sinned against God and repent for their sin, and believe that Jesus died in their place on the cross and ask Him to teach him the love that will complete that change. with such a strong love for God, with that same love in their hearts, they pass it down to others and are found to be great in God's sight..........God gives one complete life, and men gives men a false hope of it.........

religion don't have any saving power......

'; for by grace through faith are we saved, not of works that any should boost, but a gift of God through Jesus Christ our Lord';.

'; for if any person say that he love God, whom he has not seen, and hate his brother [others] which he has seen, he is a liar and the truth is not in him';.

';not all that say Lord, Lord shall enter in';

';so now we know that we must not only be a hearer of God's word, but also a doer of it';.

love and peace be with you all........
Because it has been proven without a doubt that virtually every christian doctrine can be found in older pagan religions. So since we know that Christianity is based on mythology, it would be irresponsible not to help people out of their delusion.
Because they are smart *** answers.
we have no lives. and you cant say you havent made a smart** comment. I am a proud smart*** and will ever be one to my death bed. Edit: Nice one phree
It's because of people that are normally tired of having their own religion bashed so they just take it out on those people as they see an opportunity to do so or they are just people that like to throw out their own personal opinions at you to start up an argument because they know Christians wouldnt like to hear that.
The truth is we are all humans. They are very evil as indicated by many religions. The irony is they are no longer very evil when they enter a heaven.

So, going from one place to another makes one not evil anymore just because one accepts a man as a God. Or believe in an invisible God called Allah or believe in a God of all mighty.

Or even believe in thousands of Gods like Hinduism make one able to go to heaven for eternity.
It most certainly depends on the questioner.

A true honest question will most certainly get true and honest answers.

But there's plenty of people that pretends to proselytize with ';innocent'; questions, particularly christians, which in return get the smart @ss answers you are complaining about.

If you are not willing to get smart @ss answers, just don't make apparently innocent smart @ss questions.
It goes both ways.
When you stop trashing my non-belief, and stop threatening me with hell-fire, I'll stop trashing yours. Tit for tat.

By the way, why don't most believers have any sense of humor? You need to chill every now and then. You can hit us back with something funny instead of quoting stupid scripture or screaming hell and damnation. I much prefer that. I could even give a thumbs up to a delusional believer as long as there's humor (or a sign of intelligence) in the answer.
hating christians is the only acceptible predjudice anymore. people are so quick to judge you saying you do this wron or you do that wrong but when you want to sincerely grow in your faith they trash you with hateful words and insults. christians have no excuse for being jerks but neither do no christians, they for some reason believe that that the words of the bible are arcaic and meaningless a pointless bunch of crap by a delusional author and that they are much more civilized without it but they prove themselves wrong by just showing how much people need hope and kindness goodwill towards men
I pick my battles. I'll admit some other atheists jump the gun.
Look, it really depends. I'm a former Catholic, now I'm an agnostic(leaning toward atheism). I respect people's rights to believe as they choose, and I try my hardest not to belittle others views, but so many of these so-called 'questions' are thinly veiled insults and pot-shots at my beliefs. When people have serious theological, or biblical questions and I think I have an answer, I answer them respectfully and truthfully. When people are just trying to ridicule my beliefs in the form of a question . . . well, let me just say I can give as good as I get(my favorites are when christians pretend to be asking about evolution and really just want to make a smart@$$ comment about it).

I WILL, however call out other atheists/agnostics if I think they're being disrespectful for no good reason .Example:

Note that one guy got the point and changed his answer. See, sometimes otherwise decent people will behave badly when they're behind a keyboard.

Plenty of christians and atheists can be nasty and shallow when responding to questions(and I won't be holier-than-thou. I'm guilty of it too, sometimes), but remember to try and distinguish whether an atheist is slamming your beliefs, or simply stating a fact about theirs. An atheist's honest response to 'Why don't you believe in God?' might be 'Because God is imaginary' with no insult intended.
Some people just have to put in their 2 cents worth to get their 2 points.

Like those 2 points really matters to them.
Respect is a two way street.
RELIGION IS EVIL

JESUS IS THE GREATEST
You said a bad word

tisk tisk
Because religion needs to be put into proper perspective, it's that simple really.
i definately think it's wrong to judge someone else's beliefs...it's up to me to choose what to accept and reject PERSONALLY and if i publicly give my stance that's fine but not say they're wrong. there's nothing wrong in saying i disagree...just not trashing someone else who believes differently, absolutely.
Good point, but some christians here trash the nonbeleivers too. It's the pot calling the kettle black, sadly.

Can't we all just discuss faith an spirituality, or lack thereof, without venomous invective?
thank you. some people do have serious questions that deserve serious answers.
We've been turned bitter by all the jabs and prods that go back and forth. Like siblings that can't quite get along. All of the religious parties are guilty of it, including us Pagans.
Some people feel religion is the root of all evil. They feel the world would be a better place without God and Jesus. They are one hundred percent for science. Others stand for religious principles that some feel hinders science. My opinion is we need both because without God we lose moral standards and without science we lose medical technology. People start wars, not religion or science. Should we do away with science because someone created the nuclear bomb, or because many people were used as lab rats throughout history? We need to live, learn and grow to become a more compatible, civilized society. ;-)
Don't be so sensitive. They are here to fight just like us.

Ephesians 6:10 (New King James Version)

The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
