I need some advice from people that cook..............?

I dont know how to cook but I know that I need to learn how. I never know what to buy at thegrocery store because I have never cooked. The only think I really buy is junk food and I know it cant be good for us. I really want to be able to have something ready for my husband when he gets home from work but I dont have any ideas about what to cook. Can anyone give me some easy recipes that are somewhat healthy and easy to make? Also, how much would itcost approximately to make a meal every day for 2 weeks? I know all the ingredietns in things have to add up to be lots of $$.I need some advice from people that cook..............?
Do you have a crock pot? That is the simplest way to make a meal without all the fuss. Buy a beef roast(3-4#), potatoes(5# bag), carrots(2# bag) and a small onion. Put the roast in the bottom of the crock pot(black pepper and seasoned salt to taste) Peel 1/2 the bag of spuds, cut in 1/2 and put on top of the roast. Peel all the carrots and cut the ends off...put in whole on top of spuds. Peel skins off onion and slice off the butt and top off onion. Quarter the onion and put on top of carrots. Add 1 cup water and turn on low before you leave for work. When you come home it will be ready to scoop out of water and put on a platter. A nice salad and some dinner rolls from your favorite bakery will be a nice addition to your meal. Ice cream sundae for dessert. Leftovers are nicely reheated and served with a couple slices of bread. That's 2 meals....prices vary depending on where you are. I come from a LONG line of the best cooks in the family and I would love to give you more secrets and recipes just email me and we can get cookin';!I need some advice from people that cook..............?
I have a great solution for you. Kraft Foods has a fabulous web site that you can use to get great recipes and meal plans and has all kinds of tips for beginning or advance cooks. The coolest thing is, and directly applies to your question, they have an email called express check out where it gives you a shopping list for one bag of groceries to make dinner for a week. So far there's 11 or 12 weeks worth. I've printed off 3 weeks worth and it's been great. You get a menu, a shopping list and recipes. Here's a link to get you in the right spot. Check it out. You'll love it.

go girl go....you have the desire, now

you need to start with the basics.

I assue you have some pots and pans, and an oven and hopefully a micrewave oven.

Now I would go to the store and stock up on some basic herbs and spices.

You can buy in small quantity...salt, pepper, Oregano, paprika, basil, thyme and sage

ketchup, soy sauce, worchestershire sauce, some dijon mustard, maybe a hot sauce

now buy some basic staples small quantity to begin with, like

white flour, sugar, rice (since you are a beginner I would buy ';boil in the bag'; rice), some different kind of pasta and noodles, and an assortment of soups, like cream of muschroom, and tomato.

Then buy meat that is easy to cook, like hamburger and chicken to begin with, and some pork chops.

Buy also a few tins of beans, like red Kidney

You should always have on hand, fresh garlic, some onions, a bunch of celery, some carrots, and the fresh vegetables you and your husband enjoy.

Now you have the very basics.

It will coast a little more for your first ';big'; basic trip to the supermarket, but with these ingrediance you can prepare many good meals.

Now go to the used book store and buy yourself a Betty Crooker cookbook. The recipis are easy and simple. Follow them to the letter, at first, later on you can be more adventurous.

I never knew how to cook either when I first was married and have now become a Chef.

I wish you well.
My favorite easy meal that everyone loves doesn't require the stove

You buy

Toritalls

Avacados

Sprouts

Lettuce

Cheese

Soy Bacon (or regular bacon if you dont' like soy)

It takes like 2 mintues too cook soy bacon in the microwave just follow directions on the box.

The rest you just make like taco's or burritos out of. You can diced up the avacados or get a pre made guac spce pack and just stir it into a bowl with your avacados.

This one is soooo eacy and soooo good your man will love it.

Also do some research on crock pots and recipes for crock pots. You can make alot of things just by throwing in meat and veggies and season packs and letting the crock pot slow cook them all day.
Go to the magazine section at a local store, and find a mag called ';Simple %26amp; Delicious';.

It comes out every other month, and its chock full of recipes for people just like YOU!

They are all easy but yummy, and the directions are simple. The more you cook, the more skill you'll get, and then you can mopve on to some of the harder recipes.

Good luck--I couldn't cook a LICK when I was 18, but over the years I've grown to love the adventure of preparing and tasting new foods!
These are easy to make and all very good...

PREHEAT oven to 350掳F. Brown meat in large skillet on medium-high heat. I usually spend around $75-$100 per week on groceries...it depends on what items are on sale. I suggest stocking up on things like boneless, skinless frozen chicken breast when it's on sale for buy one get one free...that saves A LOT of money. Another good tip to help save money at the grocery store is to but the store brand instead of the name brand items...they are all just as good. My grocery buget is for 2 adults and a toddler.

P.S. Check out www.kraftfoods.com...they have TONS of easy healthy recipes that would be good for you since you dont have a lot of experience in the kitchen.

Good luck!!
first you need to know what your husband likes i.e meats, how well or med rear pay attention when you go to out to eat, vegies, spices, and what he HATES, the basic food are hamberger meat chops steak, tatters, and spices. you can make any thing you want it is so easy good luck
cooking is very easy

get your self a good cookbook

and follow the instructions to the letter..

potatoes are a good start.. about 17 minutes boiled for boiled potatoes drain and serve with a bit of butter or margarine and salt. For mashed boil about 20 minutes, drain and mash with some butter or margarine and a little milk. add a little milk at a time as you do not want the potatoes to be too thin.... can be served with ham or roast beef or cooked sausages.

most noodles have cooking instructions on the side... get a pound of ground beef( med lean is fine) brown and crumble it in a frying pan. drain off the excess fat with a tablespoon... chop up an onion and add to the meat brown for about 3 or 4 minutes and add good can of spaghetti sauce. Serve with noodles of your choice and top with Parmesan cheese. Good Luck with your cook efforts
Salmon patties-cheap and good Open one can of Salmon and keep the water in it. Remove the skin-either break up the bones(or remove them) because they are soft and will be healthy to eat . When you have this in a bowl add an egg an a slice of bread and several crackers-enough until you can form the patties. Put a little oil in the pan fry on medium heat.(you can also use tuna this way) Turn over and brown both sides. Oyster Stew-buy fresh or canned oysters(i buy canned they are cheaper and good) Bring to a boil in liquid they come in-add a little water as needed. Then add a little butter -a couple of tablespoons- then just poor in some milk . I don't measure the milk but it is about 1/4 gallon. Heat and do not boil. Serve with crackers. You can use Salmon to make Salmon stew the same way using liquid- remove skin-break up bones or take them out. Learn how to make bread and look for soup recipes- vegetable-potato soup-barley soup. Cook dry beans and follow directions. Add some chopped onion to your beans (about 1/2 small one) You will have to learn how much you will spend. Just start out buying a few things until you learn. Then try to make a list. Buy yourself some spices a few at a time if you have to. Buy a slow cooker if you don't have one-cooking takes a while but it is very easy to make some good food An electric frying pan is good to have around.
It all depends on what you guys like to eat. I go to the Wholesaler like a Costco/Superstore and buy Value packs of meat. Hamburger. Chicken breasts (not the boneless skinless) pork chops, ribs, chicken wings and thighs. I also buy shake'n'bake. I buy a big box of rice, 10lb bag of potatoes, fresh vegies, some noodles. Spaghetti sauce, chow mein noodles, taco kit, ect. I never knew how to cook either, I learned damn quick. I do pretty good now, almost 2 years later, I make my own chili, stews and bake from scratch. I spend almost 400$ every 2 weeks on groceries and thats no junk food, but I also have a kid to buy lunch stuff for. So if you can think of something special that you would like to make I sure would like to help you out. Just email me at newbie_inbc@hotmail.com and I will try to give you step by step instructions for some good recipes. Good Luck.
