Never worn contacts and need advice from people who have them!!?

i have never had contacts but i am getting them this friday. Friday night, saturday and sunday i am going on an overnight retreat. i don't know if i should bring them and attempt putting them in, or if i should leave them at home and just bring my old glasses.. i really need advice.

if you wear contacts:

how long did it take for you to be able to put them in easily

should i wear them or no

thanks peoples!

should i ATTEMPT to put them in?Never worn contacts and need advice from people who have them!!?
DONT bring them with you. Leave them at Home.

The first time i got mine, after i put them on (at the doctors office), not only were my eyes burning (i was a little nervous about the lens touching my eye), i COULDNT even take it off, the doctor had to do it for me. You will need some practice.

It took me a few months to REALLY get use to them (had them for 3 years), My suggestion is leave it at home. Especially if you go hiking or something on the retreat, if something gets in your eye, you will realy be irritated, you need to get use to them first.

Also some advise, when you take them to school for the first time (and for as long as you need) take the case and the solution with you. Also its a good idea to keep your glasses in your bag just incase.

No need to stress yourself out on your retreat, have fun.Never worn contacts and need advice from people who have them!!?
you probably should wait till you are at home so you don't have to worry about if you loose a contact or forget you contact solution. it takes about a week to be completely comfortable with contacts. Just remember that it's VERY important to handle your contacts with clean hands, cleanse them as your optometrist directs, take them out before you sleep, and throw them out when they get too old. oh, and I suggest taking your glasses with you as a back-up whenever you go somewhere even if you have your contacts in. they take some getting used to, but they are definitely better than glasses! anyways, best of luck! :)
I would say to bring them and try them but have your glasses along as well...just in case.

When I got contacts about 2 years ago it took me very little time to get used to them. Having them in was never a problem. The thing that took the most getting used to was putting them in. For the first couple weeks I would need to set aside 5-10 minutes to work on getting them in standing in front of a mirror. After those first couple weeks I could (and can) get them in in an instant now without a mirror.

So, for your retreat, bring them. Try it. But if you run out of patience or find them too distracting, have your glasses as well.
I have had contacts for a long time. When I first got them it took me a while to get used to putting them. Once you first start wearing them your eyes have to get use to them so that will take at least a week. If you are going on an overnight retreat I would leave the contacts home and bring your glasses. You really need some time to get use to the lenses. Once you get used to wearing them and putting them in you are going to love them.
I'd wait till you can do it comfortably at home. Its not difficult it's just that its nice to get used to putting contacts in and taking them out. Even when you're experienced it can sometimes be difficult some mornings!
It will take practice to get use to putting them in and taking them out. Be sure to wash your hands before touching the lens. Be sure to keep your lens clean.
