Why do people take advice from people completely unsuited to give it?

.Why do people take advice from people completely unsuited to give it?
Some People need advice and they will take it from anybody they can..Sounds crazy doesn't it..But that's how it is sometimes. Why do people take advice from people completely unsuited to give it?
Alot of times the truth hurts and it's easier to go with advice that propels the individual away from the truth rather than accept the truth to begin with.
They are looking for the answer they want to hear ... and will keep looking until they get it.

to make themselves feel better.
You are asking this question here? I guess you more than anyone would know the answer.
They will take advice from anyone who is telling them what they wanted to hear in the first place.
Because that is usually the person who will tell them what they want to hear....
They are Grasping. Most of them thought they may read all answers, only pick out the answers they really want to hear. It's kinda of like taking a survey to see if they themselves are right.
It's a fault of human nature, and we're programmed by a barrage of advertising to accept such ';unsuited advice';.
Usually because that advice agrees with the course of behavior the advice seeker has already decided upon.
I feel you on this one.

some of the stupid answers to the piercing questions just asttound me. Someone actually suggested using RUBBING ALCOHOL to clean a piercing. I'm just sitting here thinking, ';yea, and maybe piss will work too';

i have been piercing for 4 years (not including my apprenticeship)

i keep up to date with new methods of care and peircing. i do all my stuff freehand to reduce the risk of infection.

point being: i know my s*it.

and yet the 13 year old whos mom did hers the basement gets the best answer.

I guess it just goes to show you that nothing can replace good old fashioned research. the kind you do yourself.
The people qualified to answer questions usually are self-important neckbeards that smell bad.
